Town of the Month

Borden

Borden was gazetted as a town in 1916. The name was proposed by the Secretary for Railways as the name of a siding on the then new Tambellup-Ongerup railway. It was named after the Right Honorable Sir Robert Laird Borden, the 8th Prime Minister of Canada, although there is no record of why.

You step off from Borden into the spectacular Stirling Range National Park. It's where nature lovers come to hike, go abseiling or rock climbing, take photographs and have picnics. It has some of the best mountain walks in WA, but walkers must always carry water and be prepared for sudden weather changes.
