Muradup

History

This small farming community was once a thriving town with a school and general store. Many of the present farming families are descended from the pioneers of the district.

Agricultural Hall

The District Hall was built in 1909 of locally fired clay bricks. Major extensions were completed in 1936.The Hallhas been in continuous use for a century being at various times a school, sporting venue, polling place, cinema and has hosted many dances, parties and other social functions.

Muradup War Memorial

The war memorial, built by the Football and Cricket Club, is unusual in as much that it was first unveiled in 1916 making it one of the first erected to honour those who had enlisted for WW1. Names of those who died in subsequentconflicts have also been added. The memorial is maintained by the locals to this day.
